Straight Travels Suspended During Holiday Season

Zamboanga City Integrated Bus Terminal (ZC-IBT) bans interprovincial or straight travels of public utility vehicles to other cities and provinces starting December 9. This covers both entry to and departure from Zamboanga City. As an alternative, the new policy suggests border-to-border travel until the second week of January 2021.

The border-to-border travel scheme requires passengers to transfer buses when they arrive at the respective boundary of each province. They may enter Zamboanga City via Licomo-IBT buses and travel outside by proceeding to Licomo and taking a Zamboanga City-Tungawan (Zamboanga Sibugay border) ride. The fare rates cost 180 PHP for both ZC IBT-Licomo and Licomo-ZC IBT routes. The first trip is at 6:30 AM and the last trip is at 5:00 PM.

The change was a collective agreement of Region IX provinces and cities along with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

Despite the modified travel system, ZC-IBT remains strict in following travel protocols. This includes the acquisition of the following: medical certificate, PNP travel authority, City Tourism Office coordination pass, barangay clearance or other proof of residency, and a negative RT-PCR test result taken no longer than five days. They also advise passengers to coordinate with the respective LGUs in case additional requirements are needed. All documents will be presented to IBT and the receiving border.

For more inquiries, contact ZC-IBT at 062-955-7806 from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, or the 24-hour hotline:  062-926-8116.
