Zamboanga City Set to Avail COVID Vaccine

To bring on a complete downtrend of COVID cases and improve the public health of the city, City Health Officer Dr. Dulce Miravite confirmed the anti-COVID vaccine purchase by next year in a conference held last November 27.

The fund for the said purchase is already included in the executive budget plan of the city amounting to P200M. In the same light, the Sangguniang Panlungsod expressed a holdback of the requested budget as there is still a low probability of the anti-COVID vaccine being fully available next year. The city is also currently seeing a significant decrease in COVID cases and an increase in patient recoveries because of strict and effective protocols being regulated in the city.

Dr. Miravite reiterated to the public during the conference to still adhere to the minimum health standards like social distancing, wearing of face masks and face shields, and handwashing among others despite the steady improvement of the city’s public health. She also expressed in the said conference that once the vaccine is purchased, it will be directly distributed to the 70% to 80% of the population, starting with the sector that needs it the most.

With Zamboanga City’s government inclusion of the anti-COVID vaccine purchase in its official annual budget, a promise arises that the city is prepared and currently abreast with the necessary actions to implement in the effort of making Zamboanga COVID-free.
