AdZU celebrates Grand Iftar 2024

The Grand Iftar 2024 was celebrated by the AdZU community last April 4, 2024, at the Multi-Purpose Covered Court 1 (MPCC-1) of Salvador Campus from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the theme, “Sowing the Seeds of Ramadhān for a Bountiful Future.”

Iftar refers to the evening meal of the Muslims to break their fast during Ramadhān

The Muslim Students’ Association-AdZU (MSA-AdZU) organized the event, which was open to all students, alumni, and staff from the Junior High School (JHS), Senior High School (SHS), College, and Graduate School units. Guests were also invited to join the event by registering in a form provided online.

Shaykh Mohammad Tawfiq Kiram, BS in Islamic Studies Major in Sunnah and Hadith Sciences from the International University of Africa, was the guest speaker at the event.

Motivational speeches were delivered by the University President Ernald M. Andal, SJ, MSA Moderator Mr. Mohammad Nur Kadil, MSA-SHS Moderator Mr. Al-John Ilacad, and Muslim Affairs Coordinator Mr. Daru Akmad Duran.

The Salat ul-Maghrib was then observed, followed by the commencement of Iftaar.

“Our doors are open wide to all, regardless of race, religion, and background,” MSA-AdZU announced on their official Facebook page.

The MSA-AdZU also opened donations before the Grand Iftar to support the less fortunate and to allocate contributions for the preparations for the event.

Despite the suspension of classes by City Mayor John Dalipe on April 4-5, 2024, due to the extreme heat index in Zamboanga City, the Grand Iftar still proceeded as planned.

The Grand Iftar signifies the strength of faith, empathy, and unity in coming together for a meaningful purpose in light of the Ramadhān.
