Dr. Evelyn G. Chavez, currently serving as the assistant to the Vice President of Higher Education, has been appointed as the director of the newly-established Ateneo de Zamboanga University (ADZU) Quality Assurance and Strategic Management Office starting February 15.
Through a signed memorandum dated February 2, Fr. Karel San Juan, S.J announced that she will spearhead the strategic planning and implementation of quality assurance management activities in the community.
Additionally, as the director, Chavez must work closely with the President and Vice President of Higher and Basic Education, including its departmental heads. She will also represent the university in accreditation and quality assurance activities of institutions.
Dr. Chavez was the former dean of the School of Education from 2007-2021. She has been a member of RO9 Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQuAT) and an accreditor for the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). In 2005, she earned her doctorate degree in Science Education major in Mathematics in De La Salle University as With High Distinction and Outstanding Dissertation.
One of her biggest contributions in the university lies in ADZU’s accreditation efforts that resulted in the granting of Institutional Accreditation by PAASCU (2014) and Autonomous Status by CHED (2019).
